DRAMA/LUDO-TURGY

Research support for your creative project

A dramaturg supports the creative development of theater and performance pieces from a research perspective. Dramaturgs work with playwrights, directors, and other kinds of theater makers in a wide variety of ways, by providing an analytic and academic eye to the work. As a ludoturg I also provide this same sort of support to game designers developing games in which narrative and/or role-playing are key aspects.

Here are some examples of how I can help you with your project:

Developmental Support
To provide an "outside eye" to you as you develop your play, game, or other performance piece. May include:
  • One-time verbal or written feedback on your work-in-progress
  • Ongoing support during rehearsal/playtesting

Reference Materials
To provide historical, cultural, and theoretical context for you and your creative team as you develop your play, game, or other performance piece. May include:
  • Research packets
  • Glossaries
  • Custom syllabi

Audience/Player Enrichment Materials
To provide supplemental historical, cultural, and theoretical context for your audience/players as they engage with your play, game, or other performance piece. May include:
  • Written articles/pamphlets
  • Study guides
  • Lobby displays
  • Podcasts/video essays

Dialogue Facilitation
To help start meaningful conversations between the people who make the art and the people who experience the art. May include:
  • Talk-back facilitation
  • Panel moderation
  • Live or recorded interviews

Want to work together?
We might be a good fit if your project is:
  • A play or musical
  • An interactive/immersive experience
  • An experimental performance piece
  • A table top or live action role-playing game
  • About intimacy, embodiment, and touch
