Emma is currently a postgraduate student at the University of Bristol, where she expects to complete her MA in Performance Research at the end of 2012. Previously, she has studied Performance Studies at New York University, and English, Theater Arts, and Art History at Rutgers University.

Emma is particularly interested in bridging the gap between academia/theory and industry/practice. She views the arts as an integral tool for expression and effective communication, and is eager to work with creative organizations with a strong commitment to issues of social justice, community development, and personal enrichment. Emma has professional experience as a dramaturg and theatre educator, and is currently focused on developing skills and practice in museum and festival curation.

- Performative expressions of sexuality and gender identity
- The written word: handwriting, journals, letters, books, and marginalia
- Film & photography (as a site of contact between performance and artifact)
- Nostalgia and the construction of historical narratives (especially Victorian England, and 1970s America)
- Embodied knowledge, visceral experience, intuition, and different ways of knowing
- Contemporary art, pop art, and performance as a uniting element of diverse creative genres and media
- Humor studies
- Education and community outreach
